January's Book of the Month

NIrV Discover's Bible

For young readers

This bible is for grades 2-3 and up.

This bible is the one my third grade daughter uses for her bible reading. It is very easy to understand, and looses no content in its translation. I have actually enjoyed reading this bible during my personal bible reading time. I also bought one for my mom for Christmas because she has a hard time understanding the Bible. She LOVES reading from this book. I prefer it to the Living Bible translation. It has shorter sentences that makes reading easier for young readers, or anyone who has a hard time understanding the bible. I highly recommend adding this bible. Not only will your children enjoy reading from it, but mom's and dad's will as well.

Let the Blogging begin again

Wow! I haven't posted anything here in almost a month. It wasn't planned, but somewhere during this Christmas season I decided I wasn't going to get on the computer...unless it was a necessity. With all the extra things to do over the holidays I decided to spend all of my extra time with my kids, watching movies and football games that I normally wouldn't watch, playing board games, and just being with them.

I even took a break from my Thoughtful Thursdays Meme. I will be starting back with my entries this coming Thursday.

But now that it's all over and things seem to be getting back to normal...Let the blogs begin again!

My favorite gifts I got for Christmas are comfy blue house shoes and a NY Giants sweat shirt with a hood.

School will be starting back for us on January 5th. I will be spending the remainder of this week getting my school planner organized and getting lesson plans ready to go. I have enjoyed our 3 week vacation, but I think we are all ready to jump back into our lessons. We have a lot of fun things planned for the remainder of the year and I can't wait to share them with you along the way!

December's Book Of the Month

Squanto: Friend of the Pilgrim

By Clyde Robert Bulla

This book is for grades 2-3 and up if the child is reading it alone. If used as a read aloud it is for all ages.

Delve into the life and times of Squanto and the new American Settlers with this wonderful story book. My daughter loved reading this book. I read it as a read aloud to her and her brother and she would reread each chapter again before going to bed at night. This story is captivating and very easy to understand. Perfect to use while doing an American History unit study or to read around Thanksgiving time. This is a living book that will make Squanto and his times truly come alive for your children. I promise that You will fall in love with this book.

November's book of the month

"A Child's Book Of Character Building"

By: Ron and Rebekah Coriell

This is such a powerful book to teach young children about character traits such as Attentiveness, faith, creativity, diligence, patience, contentment, obedience, wisdom, tenderheartedness, thankfulness, honesty, and joyfulness.

Each character trait has 4 stories to illustrate it. One story each for: the bible, home, school, and play. The stories are very easy to understand and they would complement your bible study nicely.

My children are 7 & 9 and this is the one book that they beg me to read. After you finish this book, there are more volumes to follow up with. This is a must have!

October's book of the month

"Day by Day Devotions"

By Karyn Henely

This little devotional is Perfect for young children. I have bought a few in the past only to find out they were a little over my kids heads. This devotional only takes 5 minutes, so you can use it even if you are pressed for time. It has a weekly theme for all five days of the week. Some of them include: God is always in control; we were made for God; God is trustworthy. My kids absolutely love this book. It is even easy enough for older kids to read aloud. My 9 yr. old begs to read it every morning
to me and her younger brother.

All around this is a great devotional and I highly recommend it!
